In a sea of mass production and facsimile brand names focused on reproduction of proven form, Stuart Sons is an icon of the conventional Ara ft based piano ma Ger seeking to propel the design and performance boundaries of the acoustic piano. Wayne Stuart's fascination with the piano from an hasty age and his interests in technical and mechanical structures, culminated in a clear vision to become a piano maker. Stuart studied piano technology at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the auspices of Nippon Gakki Limited and undertook postgraduate studies in both Japan and Europe with leading piano manufacturers. Over the latter decade he pursued research and development which led to the building of his upright and concert grand prototypes. The piano project was relocated to the University of Newcastle in 1995 and established as a research and development initiative of the University's Faculty of Music.
