What you should know about Saint JohnS Anglican Church

St John’s has three steady services on a Sunday as healthy as services and programs through the week. During the week St John’s also runs a number of bible studies, youth group, other youth and young adult’s programs, a playgroup and supports two soccer teams. As a church we are not interested in making up the numbers so that our stats look impressive our priority is to nurture and value all relationships. Our aim is to supportively foster a deeper relationship with God while enabling friendships and urge networks to develop and grow. We impartial try to be who we are and what God has called us to be. We trust that we are called to love God with all our heart, mind and soul, and our neighbors as we love ourselves. We trust that people should be encouraged to inquire and explore their faith in order that they may arrive to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that people reach to faith in many ways at varying speeds and we commit to patiently journeying with them as God is revealed in their lives. God is revealed in the gathering together of God’s people, and because God’s people come in all shapes and sizes and from different backgrounds, it is automatic that they will want to express their connection with God in diverse ways. We are committed to exploring fresh ways to bring a fresh revelation or understanding of God while retaining the integrity of worship styles that remain to draw people closer to God. We aim to be an inclusive, patient and patient community that meets people where they are at and encourages them to reach as they are. We aim to offer a paradigm of church that people find refreshing and real. While in our humanity we will perpetual fall short and make mistakes, our desire is that we will not offer to God and our community that which has cost us nothing. We foster a diversity of backgrounds, opinions, theological understandings, social status and life styles. We believe that in the acceptance and celebration of our diversity we will as community find unity. We believe that the church is not owed its place in the community, but as a church we are called to be visible and ensure that people are definite about what we stand for. We actively seek to be segment of our community by meeting people’s needs, commenting on topical issues, reclaiming the church as a public space, surprising people about what the church cares about, and encouraging our members to live their faith exterior the walls of the church building. Much of Jesus’ teaching and ministry was done with food present. We trust our worship continues after the service has ended and people move to engage each other over a cuppa and a chat. We encourage the church community to begin their homes in hospitality in order to build real relationships. God’s love has been poured into our hearts, through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. God has shone in our hearts, to offer the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the. Through Christ let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, the fruit of lips that admit his name.

It was built (to hold 600) for the largely mining population of Newcastle, as Bishop Terrell had noted that only the rich of the district attended Christ Church, and in order that the people may be reclaimed from practical atheism. Ramsey was appointed as the first Rector. It seems that Bishop Terrell purchased designs for a school and a important church and managed to get his money’s worth by using the church design three times St. Although a William White is credited as the architect of St. Paul’s, West mainland, it is possible that he worked from the design or made construction drawings. The church is Victorian Gothic with paired stone lancet windows set in walls of hand pressed red sand stock bricks. After the Newcastle earthquake of 1989 when all the church buildings suffered numerous damage, parishioners had a scanty opportunity of seeing the church much as it would have looked when beginning completed, as to enable repairs the cement render had to be removed. The two side aisles were replaced with a expansive center aisle and narrow ones along each wall, necessitating the rearrangement of the western porch doors. The clever cedar pews were able to be old but the seating capacity was thus reduced. It was at this time that the ceiling was painted blue and the stars painted above the chancel. The exterior cranky on the western gable of the church was only erected in 2007. It is made of stainless steel and replaces an former wooden cross. It aims to balance energizing worship, safe biblical teaching and spiritual renewal. Members of this congregation have a developing passion for community action and outreach. The 5pm evening service is a more informal worship service with a powerful emphasis on biblical teaching, contemporary music and congregational involvement. Because of its relaxed and casual nature, the 5pm service often varies in structure. We donate two church services for healing, mindfulness and meditation each month. The 10:30am service is a short informal Eucharistic service held in the chapel and provides a huge opportunity to cease for prayer, teaching and communion during the week. All are welcome at St John’s to arrive for Baptism! We love to welcome baptisms in our services because baptism is about entering into God’s community. Naming services, although different to baptisms, in a similar way give thanks for the child, the gift of new life and the blessing of a new member of the family. Here at St John’s we would be more than glad to yield a naming service for you and your child. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is healing and we are always willing to organism notable prayers for healing. Morning tea in our lovely grounds is provided after the service and offers a chance for people to build on the friendships and relationships that are a mighty piece of the 9am service. The children return to the church in time for Holy Communion with their families. Resources and toys for preschool aged children are eternal available at the back of the church in our purpose built toddlers’ area, and children and babies are always welcome at St John’s! The children at 5pm are encouraged to receive piece in the service itself, and often help with singing at the fore of church. A fresh initiative in 2015 was the Meditation Listening and Healing group, formed and led by Fr Ken. This group met twice a month for a time of meditation and prayer for healing is offered. Healing, however God chooses to let it happen, is a very potent gift and we thank Fr Ken very much for his commitment to this group.
