The forum is a leader in providing quality health and fitness services to its community. The award winning nusport is a leader in the health and fitness industry and manages a suite of contemporary facilities in convenient locations including: the forum sports & aquatic centre, the university of newcastle the forum health & wellness centre, harbourside the squash & tennis pavilion ray watt pavilion five sporting ovals nusport rowing pavilion (located at berry park near maitland) these facilities as well as a diverse offering of programs and activities are designed to meet the needs of university students, staff and our local community including sporting groups and business people. This not-for-profit organisation is managed by qualified professionals, under the direction and governance of a volunteer board. Nusport was established in 2001 and is the successful amalgamation of the university of newcastle sports union and the forum sports & aquatic centre. Throughout its history nusport has grown and succeeded because it understands and adds value to the role that sport and recreation plays within the university of newcastle and the wider community it has worked with students and staff of the university of newcastle, sporting authorities and groups and with the wider community to promote sport as an essential part of life. Supported by the knowledge and experience of our highly skilled team, our activities and our programs are designed to help our community lead a healthy lifestyle.

Throughout its history NUsport has grown and succeeded because it understands and adds value to the role that sport and pastime plays within the University of Newcastle and the wider community. It has worked with students and staff of the University of Newcastle, sporting authorities and groups and with the wider community to encourage sport as an essential part of life. Supported by the knowledge and experience of our highly skilled team, our activities and our programs are designed to help our community lead a well lifestyle. The Forum is actively part of its community and through our partnerships we work towards the right outcomes for our members and the wider community. The Forum in ancient Rome was originally a meeting area where people exchanged goods, and ultimately became the social center of the city. In its fullest sense, The Forum means the deposit where we truly become citizens by our involvement in social activities. Today The Forum is more than fair a place to exercise. It is definite living creating a healthier mind, fitter body, happier spirit. Our people are qualified and experienced fitness and health professionals. A combination of experience, industry training and education supports our team. They are qualified, many with University qualifications, and they are members of zenith representative bodies and groups. The NUsport Board of Directors is a group of highly respected people who represent various stakeholder groups of the organization. The Board is responsible for the performance of NUsport and defines the organizational purpose, sets the lengthy term strategic direction and oversees strategic implementation. The Board regularly reviews NUsport's financial management and administration structure, monitors management's performance and is responsible for ensuring the accountability of directors and management. The Board is responsible for the good governance of the company including employee relations and standards of service to members and other clients. It is responsible for the company's compliance with its statutory responsibilities, acts as the custodian of the University's sporting culture, traditions and history and, where appropriate, seeks to effect change. The Board reports on its activities to the Members of NUsport and the University Council. The Board has established five (5) committees to help it to meet its roles and obligations. NUsport plays an urgent role in the University community. Therefore, we urge the University's code of conduct for promoting a polite and collaborative workplace. We also engage with other areas of the University to deliver a Healthy University strategy and encourage our staff to collaborate with other University staff lower this initiative.

The Forum has its very own Accredited Practicing Dietitian (AD) who is registered with Dietitian’s Association of Australia (AA) to bear nutritional assessments for a range of individual needs. An AD has gained a nationally recognized university qualification that allows them to aid individuals and groups understand the relationship between food and health. adds are trained to assess nutrition needs of individuals and groups, they can also help people in the management of medical and health conditions using Medical Nutrition Therapy. What is the difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist? The key difference is that a dietitian has undertaken a course of scrutinize that includes extensive theory, supervised and assessed professional practice in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and food service management. Our Dietitian can bear dietetic services on a range of topics and conditions. AD’s have extensive knowledge and consulting with a Dietitian can provide you with an array of health benefits and advice on: Private Health Funds Our Dietitian is registered with major health funds. We request payment at time of consultation and a receipt will be issued for you to receive to your individual health fund. If so, you can claim a rebate back through Medicare for up to five visits to us over a calendar year. We request payment at time of consultation and a receipt will be issued. You will be required to receive the receipt to Medicare to claim your rebate.
